Hi, I'm Nikki

Teacher, mentor, music lover and lifelong encourager.

I’m dedicated to helping others grow in confidence through education and creativity.

For over 30 years, I’ve worked with children, teenagers and adults – from nervous first-timers to gifted learners – helping them unlock their potential through personalised academic and music tuition.

I have a BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts and History with Film Studies from the University of Exeter. I have also achieved a variety of musical qualifications: Grade 8 Piano – Grade 8 Singing – Grade 8 Theory of Music – A Diploma in Singing.

Returning to higher education at Birmingham University, I gained a PGCE, and I subsequently worked as a primary school teacher in both Warwickshire and Worcestershire Educational Authorities for over 25 years with responsibility for both Music, English and Key Stage 2.

I extended my educational knowledge by completing three leadership courses with the HTI: Leadership Pathways, Empowered Leaders, and Coaching and Mentoring for Educational Leaders. During my time working for Warwickshire, I coached year 6 children for 11+, as well as adjudicating and marking 11+ papers.

Outside of education, I have been involved with Amateur Dramatics since the age of 15, performing in both Warwickshire and Solihull, and have sung professionally for smaller venues. In addition, I have been Musical Director for both adult and children’s choirs, running rehearsals and organising shows.

“No one should get left behind.”

I am driven by a core belief that music is joyous and uplifting; music is healing and, on occasion, it can even be a kind of therapy. I listen to music of all genres and understand the impact that it has on our lives.

On the academic side, I am convinced that every one of us has an individual talent that should be nurtured and celebrated.

The National Curriculum requires all children to pass GCSE English and Maths. I can help those who find these subjects challenging at a younger age – if the basics aren’t grasped, then the gaps get larger at a higher level. By supporting the learning of English and Maths, as well as extending the knowledge of gifted and talented children, I can assist children with achieving their long-term dreams and aspirations, whether that’s further education or becoming amazing musicians, artists, or performers.
